There are two words that sound alike, have different meanings, and are often confused.

COMPLEMENTS

-(verb) adds to (completes, improves, or perfects by its addition)

-(noun) complementary or component forms

Example : "The drapes should complement the decor of the room."

COMPLIMENTS

-(verb) makes positive comments on an action, or appearance

-(noun) such positive comments

Example : "The prinicipal complimented the students on their good grades."
