Short answer: no. Long answer: Thought Field Therapy (TFT) was developed by Roger Callaghan, a psychologist, from his work in psychology and his study of Chinese Medicine. It was long, complicated and involved. One of Roger's students, Gary Craig, discovered that far from needing to go through the entire TFT procedure every time, one could in fact shorten the process by tapping on particular points on the face, upper body and hands - his shortened "algorithm" worked just as well as the longer, more involved method used by Roger Callaghan, sometimes even better. Gary generously promoted his method freely, calling it EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Since then, EFT has spread all over the world, with applications in business, PTSD, phobias, weight loss, personal development and coaching, to name but a few.
