No. Ticonderoga pencils, made by Dixon Ticonderoga, is one of the oldest pencil manufacturers in the world. They are one of the most common brands of pencil found in the US for the typical "No. 2" pencil. However, there are other competing brands that are more common for artists, draftsmen, and other purposes - Faber-Castell being one of the most well known. For colored pencils, even Crayola has established itself as a major supplier. Outside the US, China is now the largest producer of pencils, and has adapted ne methods less costly and potentially more environmentally friendly than older methods. Some Chinese pencils are built by tightly wrapping recycled paper strips around the graphite, significantly reducing cost than the older methods.
