AnswerTonsillitis is contagious at any stage. Tonsils are a filtering organ and some people (mostly children) may have to have them removed. AnswerPer every other website I have seen it says that it IS contagious. Please see below

It is contagious only up until the 3rd or 4th day of being on antibiotic, not at any stage.

However, people with bacterial tonsillitis treated with antibiotics generally become non-contagious 24 hours after starting antibiotic treatment for strep throat.

i am pretty sure it is until the antibiotics gets the full dose in the body and then it starts killing the infection. everything takes time.
