Ive heard many dentist refer to whitening strips being harmful to the enamel on the tooths surfaces. As far as lazer whitening, Im uncertain.

Laser whitening just like lamp whitening is also harmfull. Lamps cause desiccation of the teeth and that can damage the tooth nerve. Here's an interesting video about tooth whitening -
