Since you are talking about the movement of particles, it would not be osmosis, because osmosis is the movement of water. Technically speaking, you could consider water a particle, but it is assumed that this question refers to movement of soluteparticles, and not solvent particles. Then, to determine if the movement is active or passive, one needs to know if energy is required and if the movement is up or down the concentration gradient. No energy requirement, it is passive. If a source of energy is needed, then it is active transport. Not sure what a protein doorway is. If you mean a pore, then the movement may be passive, or even facilitated diffusion.

Sorry my answer is not too accurate... don't have my bio textbook on me. From memory, ATP phosphorylates the protein that causes active transport. It would give the energy needed for a protein to actively transport the molecule or atom of choice through the pore. Now active transport mitosis? I've never heard of that before. Are you saying that ATP activates a protein (which transfers thing) during mitosis?
Active transport requires energy, whereas passive transport does not. Passive transport is normally something moving from an area of high concentration to low concentration (with the grain). Active transport is something moving from an area of low concentration to an area of high concentration(against the grain).
The requirements of passive transport through the cell membrane (phospholipid bilayer) of an animal cell are that the molecule is non-polar or small enough to pass by the non-polar phospholipid tails. This is because, for there to be passive transport, no energy must be used to transport the molecule from outside of the cell to inside.
