No. Tranxene (clorazepate) is a benzodiazepine, a group of drugs used to relieve anxiety. Other benzos include Valium, Ativan, Librium, Xanax, Versed, and Restoril. They are also used to induce sleep, as anticonvulsants, to relax skeletal muscles, for pre-op sedation, and during alcohol withdrawal to control DTs (also due to their anticonvulsant/antiseizure effects).

Narcotics, on the other hand, generally refer to opioid analgesics or "painkillers" such as morphine, codeine, Demerol, Vicodin/Lortab (hydrocodone), Percocet (oxycodone), methadone just to name a few.

Trazadone is not a true narcotic. Doctors sometimes prescribe it in small amounts to help sleep because it has a sedating effect.
