Best Answer

Like so many other things in life, moderation is key.

UV-C is instantly deadly to many micro-organisms, so lamps built to produce it

are often marketed as "Germicidal" lights.

To bigger, tougher, smarter organisms, like us, the degree of danger depends on

the duration and intensity of exposure to it. The effects range from none, through

suntan and sunburn, to skin cancer.

There are no known links between UVC and cancers and by killing virus's it may prevent you getting virus induced cancers.

Which part of the em spectrum can be used to kill bacteria?

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation, specifically UVC light, can be used to kill bacteria. UVC light has a short wavelength and high energy, which damages the DNA and RNA of bacteria, preventing their growth and reproduction. This property makes UVC light an effective tool for disinfection purposes.

UVA is not absorbed by ozone. UVB is mostly absorbed by ozone, although some reaches the Earth. UVC is completely absorbed by ozone and normal oxygen. see related link
