Is vicodin and Darvocet in the same category when taking a urinedrug test Would they both show up as opiates or each individual drug. Many thanks.?

I have a permanent injury and have a darvocet prescription. Without thinking I took a dose of my wifes hydrocodone cough syrup for a recent cold. I asked the above question because i take random drug tests for work and I am worried that it will show up. I already have opiates in my system from the darvocet so I'm hoping it will just show up as an opiate. Are urine drug tests so specific that it will show each and every drug or just the category such as opiates? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Rest easy they both are opiates and will show up in a drug test as opiates drug test are not that specific they shoe thc,opiates,benzos ect... they show up as groups not as drug names your job is safe

Hey, not all drug tests are the same. some are more sensitive than others. The ones I had to take at a pain clinic detect the various different types of opiates. they can differentiate btwn percocet (oxycodone), vicodin (hydrocodone) TYlenol 3 (codeine) Darvoce (Propoxyphene) t, etc etc.

Yes. Generally opiates are taken every four-six hours. Since Darvocet is a synthetic opiate, you're okay to take a Lorcet within four hours of a Darvocet. I wouldn't take them together though.

Hydrocodone is an opiate (meaning it's a derivative of opium), I believe. Darvocet is an Opiod, which means it's synthetic and made to chemically mimic the effects (especially painkilling properties) of other opiates. To my knowledge, Hydrocodone is more potent than Darvocet and is a schedule 3 controlled substance-Darvocet is schedule 4. The smaller the number, the higher the abuse potential. Hope that helped.

It depends on the methodology. My laboratory screens for a panel of 10 drugs, including opiates. Since darvocet is a synthetic opioid, it will not show up. It may be detected by other drug screen panels. Some newer drug panels do include tests for propoxyphene, which is one of the active ingredients in darvocet.

Darvocet (Dextropropoxyphene also know as Propoxyphene) is a fully synthetic opioid analgesic (ie a narcotic). It is used to control mild pain and it is closely related to Demerol (Pethidine also known as meperidine). Darvocet is a mixture of Dextropropoxyphene and acetaminophen. Both drugs do reduce pain however the Dextropropoxyphene is the primary analgesic due to its opioid activity. Darvocet has come under significant controversy because dextropropoxyphene is highly addictive and most countries only have medications containing both Dextropropoxyphene and acetaminophen. As a result there has been an alarmingly high incidence of death due to addicts taking so many pills that the acetaminophen becomes toxic and kills. Dispite the high addictive potential of dextropropoxyphene, the US classifies it a a schedule IV drug along with Valium, Phenobarbital, and many others. Most opioid's are schedule II but codeine and hydrocodone drugs containing acetaminophen or an NSAID are schedule III.
Will 5mg Hydrocodone and 300 mg Darvocet give you euphoria?
I really wouldn't recommend taking that combination as both drugs have a lot of Tylenol in them all ready and may cause liver damange, but since you asked about euphoria: It depends on how tolerant you are to opiates. If you have been taking opiates over a period of time then this combo probably won't do much but keep the withdrawals at bay. For a moderate to non-user, this combo WILL cause medium to slight euphoria since both are opiates. And you may be one of those who will feel a huge amount of euphoria on these pills, it's just how your body is made. Everyone is different. Lortab 5mgs, (hydrocodone), come from the poppy pant where Darvocet is a synthetic opiate that is structurally similar to methadone. I believe it's like one Darvocet 100 is equal in strength to 1mg of methadone.
