Ans: "Unexplained" eg. not from exercise, big dinner, etc My understanding is that in the beginning when the body looses regulation of glucose(blood sugar) via insulin(amt or quality) there will be a noticeable increase in wanting liquid to flush the problem away....we are talking a couple of gallons a day....which after ~3wks tapers off to the high end of normal....and then varies on how much carbs are excess....Drug stores have glucose test kits. Above 126mg/dL is a problem.

Excessive thirst can be a sign of Diabetes. Not everyone will exhibit all the symptoms though, excessive thirst may be the only symptom you get. A simple blood test can check for Diabetes.
