Audacity is free. It works with windows, mac, GNN/Linux and other systems. Although the system is free they would accept donations. You can find Audacity at audacity.sourceforge.net. You also can get wavepad audio editing software at www.nch.com.au. This is also free as long as it isn't for commercial use.

To create ringtones quickly, get a free ringtone-making software and convert the file of your choice. NCH Software makes a free ringtone maker called WavePad. AVCWare creates a program called Free Ringtone Maker. The Mac App Store carries a Free Ringtone Maker by Wondershare Co., Ltd.
Q. Can I remove the voice from a music track with WavePad It is very difficult to completely remove the vocal, but the voice can be significantly reduced using the Reduce Vocals tool from WavePad's Special Effects. The recording must be stereo (from an original stereo source like a CD). It will also remove any instruments near the voice in the stereo spectrum.
You cannot remove vocals completely with Wavepad. No program can. You can reduce the volume of the vocals with the Effects -> Special Effects -> Reduce Vocals function, but this will alter the other instruments so that resulting audio will be in mono, and sound like it is underwater.
