In simple terms, there are 2 main reasons why it is often more windy at the beach than inland. The main reason is due to friction. When the wind comes from the sea the beach only has the sea in front of it. Further inland, trees, buildings, hills etc cause blockages to the wind flow which causes the wind to be less. The beach has more exposure to the wind than inland. The other reason is due to sea breeze influences (or thermal influences). Sea Breezes are usually stronger near the beach than further inland. The exception may be on the sea breeze front itself. So in summary, friction and thermal contrasts are the main forces responsible

The movement of fog inland and back out to sea is primarily driven by changes in temperature and wind patterns. When warm, moist air moves over cooler coastal waters, it cools and condenses, forming fog. Wind direction and speed can then push this fog inland or back out to sea, depending on atmospheric conditions. Additionally, differences in land and sea temperatures, especially during the day and night, can influence this movement.
