Nope. Your fingernails are made of the same substance that your hair is made from. Its something called keratin. Horses hooves are also made of keratin, as are the claws on animals. =)

If neither work, or if you do not want to try clipping the infected nail yourself, make an appointment with a podiatrist.

If so, i don't have an answer. However, if this is from the side, simply cut the excess nail that is connected to the skin, or ask help from a doctor.
