The knee is not a fixed joint it is a pivotal hinge joint; they are completely different a fixed joint barely moves where as a pivotal hinge joint moves in four directions.

The knee is a hinge joint.
I believe there are about five. They are the: Fixed Joint ( Skull ) Gliding Joint ( Wrist ) Ball- and - Socket joint ( Shoulder ) Hinge Joint ( Knee ) And the Pivot ( Neck ).
The knee joint is located in the leg at the knee. It is a type of hinge joint.

It is not a separate joint it is your hip joint, the hip joint is a ball & socket joint!!!
The only bone in the face that has a dairthrotic joint is the jawbone, or mandible. A diarthrotic joint is one that can move freely, like your knee or shoulder. The rest of the skull is synarthrotic, meaning fixed.
The largest hinge joint would be the knee. But the knee is considered a modified hinge joint because of its movement.
It can make the joint unstable.
the muscle that is attached to the knee joint is the HINGE
