mine is open or moderate however, when my internet is 'lagging' its strict, i dunno what this is, please help.
Test your xbox live connection in network settings and your nat type is open
It has all got to do with your NAT Type. If your NAT Type is Open then it is using WiFi. If your NAT Type is Strict then it is using your Internet Connection.
Depends on the type of router you have. Google "How to open NAT setting on a [Enter router type here]". You should find your answer there.
Your NAT type is basically how your internet performs over Xbox live. You can try getting your family to not use electronic devices that put strain on the internet when you're playing MW2 or just get fibreoptic internet. Infact, what I do which is very effective, is have my wireless router right next to my xbox which I can directly plug in - it makes the internet very fast.
YES YOU CAN FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO HAVE A STRICT NAT ON MW2 OR HALO 3. What you need to do is to go onto 192.168.1.1 and go to port forwarding and use the ports 88 with udp and port 3074 with tcp/udp. after saving them you will be able to have possible a open NAT for mw2 or if it doesnt in most cases it will allow you to get into matches faster.
by changing it
If you would like to change your NAT type from strict or moderate to open it first depends on your router, (linkseys, Netgear) For both use a wired or Ethernet computer and type 192.168.1.1 in the web address. Then it will ask for a user and pass, which is usually; USER: admin PASS: password unless you have changed it. From then on it depends what router you have so with that i can answer.
Set your NAT type, to "open".
Get a good internet and make sure you have an Open Nat Type.
With an open nat it's possible to host online games and get into games quicker
Open a internet browser. Type 10.1.1.1 in to the search bar then a box will appear saying Username and Password. Usually it is admin for the username and password. When you log into your router go to advance settings click DMZ and type the IP into the box and enable DMZ. Now save and reboot and your nat type will be open. :)
