Is your teacher supposed to give you homework on a holiday?

You could say that students need a break off from homework to avoid burnout. Another thing to consider is the fact that many students may not do any assignment because they are simply too lazy or forgot. You could also say that Thanksgiving is a time for children to spend with their families, not buried in homework.

While these could be considered reasons against homework, there still is the fact that the teacher can give whatever homework he/she wants. They are in a position of authority over the students and assign whatever kind and volume of homework that they feel is best.or tell he teacher we them
Everybody would love to play all the time and not have to work. School is your job, and just like your parents have to go to a job every day, you have to do schoolwork even if it's not fun. Homework is not "bad" - it helps you learn the material and do better in school so you can get a better job and make more money once you are grown up.

No... It's a time to have fun and relax... Anyway us kids learn something everyday. There's grammar, math, history, and science all over... We just don't always notice it.
No because kids should have a break over Winter Break and not have to worry about projects and homework

Should holiday homework be given?

The cons

1) Homework should not be completely gotten rid of, the work load should be greatly reduced, especially for high school students. Teenagers are often given homework from around 7 classes (each teacher believing that they are the only ones giving work), a part-time job, scholarship and college applications to fill out, and they still have to somehow find a little time to relax so they don't become stress freaks. Not to mention all of the normal social, physical, and psychological problems that comes with being a teen.

2) Homework is to help you practice what you learn in school.

3) Most children don't really learn anything at school. The actual learning takes places later on in the solitary context of doing homework. For this reason, I would say that there should be much more homework than there is currently. In fact, homework should actually eat back in to the school time so that children can even do it at school instead of going to classes.

4) The only classes that are really necessary are those which involve the use of practical equipment which cannot be found in the home, for example science classes. All other classes should be abolished and replaced by homework which would be done during school hours. If this was done, it would probably be necessary to invent another name for it instead of homework, for obvious reasons. Because classes were mostly being abolished, this would also mean that not as many teachers were needed, so governments could save a lot of money. Essentially, students would become primarily responsible for their own education.

5) Student learning improves when homework serves a clear purpose and is matched to both the skills of each individual student and to the current topics being taught in class. Feedback improves the effectiveness of homework, especially when given in a timely manner (within 24 hours). Effective feedback improves student learning by correcting misunderstanding, validating process, and highlighting errors in thinking.

The pros

1) Some people thinks that homework are waste of time as we need hours and hours to complete the whole project which has many different parts to be added onto. Children can have family time or doing something they actually want to do like got outside and play or play computer when it is supposed to be their break.

2) If you are the parent of a child, and when a child has many homework, they get home they have no time to spend time with family or play games.

3) A parent complained :"My 2 kids are in middle and high school and their teachers give them so much homework that they have to stay up until 10 trying to finish it every night! They have a project due every single week and they're expected to do them over the weekend. It seems like almost every Saturday I ask them "Would you guys like to go somewhere today? The mall? The park?" and they say that they can't because they have a project they have to do! I feel like our family is falling apart since we can't spend any time together anymore all because of the loads of homework their schools give them. I've already phoned the schools about it so I hope they fix this problem. But then again it might just be their school because my niece lives in another city nearby and she doesn't get the amount of homework my kids get. But all in all, they shouldn't have homework!!"
You should space out doing your homework over holidays in order to help yourself remember what you are learning in all of your classes.

Everybody would rather be playing than working - just ask your parents when they're on their way to their jobs! School is your job, so you just have to buckle down and get the work done.

Homework is practice, so one reason for holiday homework is to keep practicing. It also keeps your brain alert and is like exercise for your mind.
