The main signs of infection are swelling, tenderness and discoloration beyond the 3-4 week mark and greenish yellow discharge from the piercing. If its just a little tender it could just be from you eating and if they used clamps it may be bruised/discolored for a while. The big indicators are the discharge and lots of swelling. If you're worried about it, go see your piercer. Then if they confirm that its infected, go to a doctor.
