It sounds like there might be a loose connection with the cable that goes from the motherboard through the hinge to the display. There are two ways you can test this: First, you can try connecting an external monitor. If that monitor works okay but the laptop display still gives you trouble, then it's likely the cable. The other thing you can try is gently squeezing the frame around the display, especially by the hinge. If that changes the blue streaks, for example, then again it's likely the cable. If it's not the cable and you have a recovery disk I would try using that. If it is the cable, you can consider trying to open up the case and re-seating the cable yourself, but likely you just want to send it in and have someone do it. I'd try to get it covered under the warranty.
