If it worked originally perhaps you need a replacement ionizer capsule as these do need replacement from time to time according to the manufacturer. Are you using an oxidizer such as chlorine? With the Floatron, you still need about 0.3ppm to keep the water clear. The green effect is from suspended particles, not algae that the copper ions from the Floatron will kill. HERE IS THE ANSWER FROM THE floatron FACTORY TECH REP : 1- WHAT IS THE ION LEVEL AT? SHOULD BE .3-.5 PPM. OVERIONIZED / OVERMINERALIZED WATER DOES HAVE A GREENISH TINT; MORE IS NOT BETTER. 2- HOW MUCH CHLORINE / OXIDIZER? SHOULDNT BE 'ZERO' 3- PH = ? 7.2 - 7.6 FOR CHLORINE TO WORK AT ALL - CAN BE HIGHER WHEN THINGS ARE IN BALANCE AND STABILIZED. 4- POOL WATER THAT IS MANY YEARS OLD CAN PRESENT A REAL PROBLEM; THE WATER GETS VERY HARD AND ACCUMULATES LOTS OF SOLIDS, CHEMICAL RESIDUALS, ETC. IF APPROX 4-5+ YEARS OLD, BEST TO DRAIN AND REFILL 5-HAVE YOU READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS?
