The older woman with a non-speaking role in almost all episodes of "Cheers" is the character known as "Carla's Mother," played by actress Rhea Perlman. Though not a main character, she appeared in various episodes throughout the series, often providing humorous background moments. Perlman's portrayal of Carla Tortelli, one of the main characters, made her a familiar face in the bar setting of the show.

Coach, played by Nicholas Colasanto, died during the third season of "Cheers." His character's death was addressed in the show's storyline, with the character's passing occurring off-screen. The series paid tribute to Coach, and his absence was felt by the remaining characters in subsequent episodes.
