Jesus was first taken to the former High Priest, Annas (John 18:13) who was also the father of Caiaphas, the High Priest at that time. It was to Caiaphas's house where Jesus was taken next. This fact is found in Matthew 26:57
First, it should be noted that the only source we have for this story is the New Testament, which is a book of Christian faith, rather than a book of objective history. There is no evidence that "the Jews" wanted Jesus crucified, nor that the majority of the rabbis and sages were concerned about him. That said, according to the New Testament, the High Priest at the time Jesus was crucified was named "Caiaphas" (Kai-uh-fuss). It is described that, during a meeting of priests who were concerned over the popularity of Jesus, he declared that Jesus should be killed instead of being allowed to go on teaching and performing miracles. He said "You don't realize that it's better for you that one man die for the people rather than the whole nation perish." (John 11:47-52) What he meantby this was that they ought to kill Jesus because he was bringing trouble to all the Jews, but Christians believe this is ironic, since Jesus's purpose was to die to save His people-- although not in the way that the high priests were thinking.
When Jesus was arrested, he was first taken to Annas for questioning and then was sent to Caiaphas for trial. (John 18:13)
Caiaphas.
The high priest at the time Jesus was crucified.
Jesus' followers did not want him to be crucified. Jesus, himself, did not entirely want to be crucified, but he saw the necessity of it and allowed himself to endure the pain for the greater good.
He was the high priest called Caiaphas.
Yes.Hebrews 4:14 - Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. [NKJV]
Pontius Pilate was the one who gave the order that Jesus be crucified; he was Roman, and not Jewish. However, he did so at the request of the Jewish high priests.
Caiaphas.
No Jesus was not a temple priest. After His death, burial, and resurrection He became the High Priest of God for mankind when they believe on Him. Jesus' priesthood is after the order of Melchizedek.
Caiaphas was the High Priest.
The high priest didnot tear his garments.NT Answer:The high priest tore his clothes during Jesus' first "hearing," not while He was on the cross:Matthew 26:62-65 - And the high priest arose and said to Him, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?" But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!" [NKJV]
Peter cut off the ear of the high priest's servant during Jesus's arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, as mentioned in the Gospel of John 18:10.
