We receive various accounts of the crucifixion from the Gospels. However, only John does not offer any mention of time as in the other three Gospels. What is constant is the hours at which Jesus was crucified (the third hour, Mark 15:25), "At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon" (Mark 15:33) "Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the whole earth, until the ninth hour" (Matt. 27:45), "And it was almost the sixth hour: and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour." (Luke 23:44).
As far as the hour at which Joseph of Arimathaea received Jesus' body, they had to have taken the body off of the cross, wrapped, and placed in the tomb before sundown, as that is when the Sabbath began. As far as a specific time, none is mentioned in the Gospels.
The Bible doesn't actually say. It was probably Roman soldiers. It could have been Joseph of Arimathea, as he took His body for burial. Knowing the custom, I doubt the Roman soldiers would have let anyone take Him down from the cross except themselves, to be sure that He was truly dead.
Followers of Jesus sought and received permission to remove his body from the Cross. His body was laid to rest in the unused tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
Joseph of Arimethea put Jesus in his tomb.
Stepfather Joseph was dead. God was in Heaven.
According to the Bible, Simon and Joseph took Jesus down, while the Virgin Mary wept at the foot of the cross.
It was a passer by named Joseph.
The Gospels does not give names to these two fellows, but calls them robbers. Some say that they could have been with Barabbas in his crime spree that landed them in prison and Crucifixion as usually only the most dangerous of criminals were crucified. One of these men repented while on the cross and accepted Jesus as his Savior.Answer /Dysmas and Gestas - from The Narrative of Joseph of Arimathaea and The Acts of Pilate.
Although it is not written from whom Jesus received the cross, it is written that a man called Simon from Cyrene was compelled to carry Jesus' cross just after they came out from the judgement hall, (Matthew 27.32)
After Jesus died on the cross, a man named Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for Jesus' body and it was given to him. Joseph then had the body buried in his tomb. But three days later he rose and He is alive.
The New Testament records that Joseph was not the physical father of Jesus, although he acted effectively as a step-father. We do not have any record of how or when Joseph died. It is evident from Jesus' words on the cross that Joseph had died by that time since Jesus handed over the care and welfare of His mother Mary to the beloved disciple John.
He treated them well. As nothing is mentioned of Joseph after the time Jesus gets lost. But from the cross he told the disciples to look after her.
NO. As soon as Jesus was taken down from the Cross, He was taken to a tomb that Joseph Arimathea already owned. Christ was buried in that tomb.
