In the US, no, a parent can't just kick out their minor child (parents are responsible for providing for their children and that includes providing shelter). However, the parents can make arrangements for that child to live somewhere else, such a military school :)

The parents are responsible for providing shelter for their minor child; however, the shelter does not necessarily have to be with them (the parents). The parents could certainly have the child live with someone else. The parents may also relinquish their rights to the child completely, and the child would then be the subject of the state. So, it depends on what you consider "kick out".

What rights does a child have when a parent wants to kick them out?

If below 18 they can not legally kick you out. Call the Child Protective Services if this is happening and they will find you a place to stay and if the issue is not resolved the court will assign a guardian and put you in a foster home. Your parents would pay child support to the state. If being close to 18 they can help you get emancipated by the court and get a start.
