It is a physical property. Any gas that has a lower density than air will float above air.

This is similar to how if you pour oil into water. The oil will float on the water because it is less dense.

Is density a physical change or chemical?

A change in density may accompany a Physical change. When liquid water becomes solid water, the solid water FLOATS; (is less dense) on top of its liquid form.Density itself is a physical property, not a change.

Is panning a chemical change or physical change?

Panning (for gold) is neither of the above.

Is scorching butter a physical or chemical change?

Melting is a physical change; but above a temperature the thermal decomposition of butter begin - this is a chemical change.

When sugar canalize on being heated above its melting point is physical change or chemical?

Melting is a physical process.

Is a raw egg a chemical or physical change?

Chemical. If the component substances are the same at the end of the process, you have a physical change. If your object isn't made of the same substance at the end, it's chemical. Cooking denatures the proteins in the egg.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------No the above is incorrect. It is a physical change. The proteins forming the substance of the egg "denature" above about 60 degrees Celsius. Proteins are complexly folded molecules and the vibration caused by the application of heat causes them to unravel - Once untraveled they tangle up to form a solid and the processes irreversible but because the change is a change in shape it is physical not chemical.

Scorching butter chemical or physical change?

Melting of butter is a physical change, a change of phase; but the brown color, at high temperature, is an indication of thermal decomposition - this ia a chemical change (change of composition).

Why does ice float above and under water?

Ice floats above water, as it has lesser density than that of water. Due to anomalous expansion of water, the ice (solid) has more density than water(liquid). Hence, it floats above water.

Is oil denser then water?

No. It is less dense. That's why it floats above water.
