Lawrence block is one of my favorite writers. He knows the ins and outs of N.Y.C. as well as anybodyexcept maybe the late Ed McBain who changed the the names of the boroughs. I have read all his books and find myself going back to Bernie a lot. His Mathew Scudder books are a must read for any mystery lover. An ex-cop and Alcholic P.I are right on, sometimes makes you think they areautobiographical.. I can honestly say he is right up there with McBain--- Robert B. Parker--- Archer Mayerand Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich
