There are a few reasons. One is that the south wanted to break away from the union due to the north wanting to keep trade in the country when goods where cheaper over seas to buy. This was to keep money in our country. Another reason was the controversy over slavery which the north mostly abolished, and the south relying heavily on. It got so bad that Lincoln said any state loyal to the union may keep they're slaves, and rebelling states must free them. This was to keep the states stuck between the north, and south which had slaves, but where loyal to the union with the union.

Why were Cleopatra and Octavion fighting?

Octavian was not really fighting against Cleopatra, he was fighting against Marc Antony in a power struggle. Cleopatra was the tool that Octavian used to get the senate to declare war. Even though the war was declared against Cleo, in order to avert the connotation "civil war", everyone knew it was actually against Antony.Octavian was not really fighting against Cleopatra, he was fighting against Marc Antony in a power struggle. What was the main advantage of the North during the US Civil War?

The main advantage of the South during the US Civil War was that each side was fighting for a different goal. In order to reunite the US, the Northern army had to crush all resistance from Confederate forces. The advantage for the South was that for them it was primarily a defensive war and to win their independence, they hoped that Northern citizens would grow tired of the war and the loss of their soldiers' lives.

What did the Roman Senate do in order to avoid a costly civil war in their empire?

The senate could not do much to avoid the 12 civil wars in the Late Roman Republic. It could not stop strong military commanders who had the loyalty of their troops from fighting each other. Moreover, in the first few of these wars, it sided with one of the fighting factions, that of the conservative commander. In one of them, the senate was actually one of the fighting forces. This was Caesar's civil war against the forces of the senate. The Liberators' Civil War was fought between supporters of the senate and supporters of the assassinated Julius Caesar.

Did the Civil War started the issue from slavery?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you're asking if the civil war started the issue of slavery, no. Slavery was always an issue. If you're asking if slavery started the civil war, not exactly. The point of the civil war according to Abraham Lincoln was to preserve the Union. The Confederacy was only fighting in defense. Eventually slavery became abolished as an aftermath of the civil war, but the only reason the war itself was started was in order to preserve the Union.
