I use a little PC program for the temperature conversion. Scroll down to related links and look at "Conversion of Temperature Units".
To use the ladder method for metric conversion, write down the units you start with at the left end of the ladder and the units you want to convert to at the right end. Fill in the ladder with conversion factors that relate the units. To convert, multiply your starting quantity by the appropriate conversion factors and cancel out units as you move along the ladder until you reach your desired units.
A volume conversion table converts units of measurement in to the amount of volume used. You will find conversions for cubic meter, cubic millimeter, cubic inches, cubic feet and fluid minims.

A yard is a length measurement with only one dimension, length. Square feet is a two-dimensional measurement (length and width) and computation. You cannot logically compare yards with square feet.
