Halley's Comet has been seen more than twice. It was last seen in 1986, before that in 1910 and before that in 1835 and most famously in 1759 when it was correctly predicted to be seen by Edmond Halley, after whom it is named. It has been seen about every 75 or 76 years. It is due again in 2061.

Comets have been observed for many thousands of years. There are a number of comets that make regular appearances in our galaxy - the most 'famous' of which is Halley's comet. Edmond Halley calculated the orbit and predicted the return of 'his' comet approximately every 75 years. A major feat given the limited technology at the time. Their origin remains a mystery.
