You can remember all sorts of things, memories from the past and presents, peoples birthdays, anniversaries etc, you can also write these things down; but writing things down like a shopping list, means you remember them....so on the face of it not a lot of difference.....BUT a shopping list, is not what you would want to permanently remember..so there is a difference...but only you can decide.
