almost all guns have the gauge marked on the gun somewhere. If not, you should probably take it to a gun dealer and let them look at it for you.
They look like a single shot shotgun- since they are made by a company that MAKES single shot shotguns. The tranquilzer dart is about as big as your finger.
Very carefully. I recommend, if you allowed props, to utilize a matress under a brown dropcloth. (To look like dirt). If no props are allowed, then feel free to fall slowly, as if shocked. Also, pay attention to the type of gun that supposedly shot you. If you are shot from a rifle, say, then the shot is more explosive and thus you may stumble back. If you are shot by the machine gun, then you may jerk repeatedly from left to right as if you were spasming. If you are shot only once though, with a gun with no silencer, a shocked look and either face forward or straight down is ok.
No
In the "get shot by a cop" section. Look for an airsoft gun, theyre realistic. ...or do some googling

To hear the gun shot at the start of the race
All guns should have the information stamped onto the barrel. Most of the time it is near the action. Look on the barrel of your shot gun and it should tell you the make, model, caliber (or in your case with a shot gun) the gauge, for shot guns the size of shell the gun takes, and finally the choke the shot gun has. If it is a screw on choke it should saw on it.
