Going to guess that this is a FWD and noise is from front and no noise while going straight?? Possible outer CV joint or loose front end part
Why should I know?
If it is a thumping and a front wheel drive car, it is probably one of the axles.

could be control arm bushings gone bad
A loud noise from the all-wheel drive (AWD) system when turning the wheel could indicate several issues. It may be caused by a failing CV joint, which can produce clicking or popping sounds during turns. Additionally, low power steering fluid or a malfunctioning power steering pump could also lead to noise when steering. It's important to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and address the issue promptly.
