A loud noise from the all-wheel drive (AWD) system when turning the wheel could indicate several issues. It may be caused by a failing CV joint, which can produce clicking or popping sounds during turns. Additionally, low Power Steering fluid or a malfunctioning power steering pump could also lead to noise when steering. It's important to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and address the issue promptly.
Why should I know?
If this noise changes pitch when turning left or right, it's a wheel Bearing that is failing...
If it is a thumping and a front wheel drive car, it is probably one of the axles.
Check your power steering fluid. Could also be a power steearing pump going bad
you have a bad power steering pump get a new one
Could be a wheel bearing
If your fridge is making a loud noise, it may be a cause for concern.
Sounds like wheel bearings.
need to get your wheel bearings checked
The loud thump or grinding noise when turning could indicate a problem with the CV joints, wheel bearings, or suspension components. When the car is on stands, the load on these parts is different, which may explain the absence of noise. It’s advisable to have a mechanic inspect the vehicle to identify the specific issue, as driving with a potential fault can lead to further damage.
Going to guess that this is a FWD and noise is from front and no noise while going straight?? Possible outer CV joint or loose front end part
AnswerThere are a couple of things... If it happens when you are turning and the sound gets louder then it is your CV Joint that needs to be replaced. If the grinding noise is only when you break then it is your break pads and they need to be replaced. If it is just when you drive and is pretty loud then it is your wheel bearings. Don't get bent out of shape if you replace one wheel bearing and the noise is there... it just means you probably should replace all the wheel bearings (better anyways).
