Is a lot easier to do with the engine out
Timing chain on the mini 2001-2006
How much does it cost to fit timing chain on a mini cooper
timing belt
It must have a timing CHAIN , because the Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) does not list a timing belt
The 2002 Mini Cooper S is equipped with a timing chain, not a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and require less frequent replacement compared to timing belts. However, it's still important to maintain the engine properly to ensure the timing chain functions effectively over time.
You don't. Most manufacturers make motors with a timing chain that should last the lifetime of a vehicle. Unlike a timing belt which requires replacement.
It doesn't have a timing belt, it is a cam chain driven engine
Timing chains are designed to last the lifetime of the engine.
The 2001 Mini Cooper, specifically the model with the BMW engine, uses a timing chain rather than a cambelt. Timing chains generally require less maintenance and have a longer lifespan compared to cambelts. However, it's still important to check the chain's condition periodically as part of regular vehicle maintenance.
A 1997 Chrysler Town and Country would have a 3.3L or 3.8L engine. Both of those engines have a timing chain not a timing belt.
what timing are you trying to set? the cam timing or the ignition timing?
On the 2002, assuming it is a 3.3L or 3.8L, the engine uses a timing chain, rarely have trouble with them, no need to change them like you had to on the older 3.0L after so many miles. AJ
