On my 2003, this happened. After wasting almost a grand replacing some internals I found that it was actually a triggered anti-theft system. Is the "anti-theft" light blinking on your dash? Set the key to the ON position (but don't start) for 10 minutes until the light turns off and retry starting.
the wires from the ignition switch need to be replaced.
If a 1997 Nissan Maxima will crank but will not start, there could be a problem with the fuel pump. Another possibility is an issue with the ignition switch.
No. If the starter turns over the ignition switch is good.
you should try an ignition switch. I've had to replace two of them at work. the cars both would run if you could get them started but when they wouldn't start but they would crank and crank.
Check your ingnition cylinder ...
might be starter relay, or the crank circuitry from the switch or to the starter from the relay. I would trace back from the starter to the starter relay back through the neutral safety switch to the ignition switch.
maybe ignition modual
check the battery, its probably dead
Turn ignition switch on ,(don't start car) for about 10 min that will disable theft system.
Check to see if you are getting spark (coil) and fuel
You don't. The ignition is required to start the car. If it fails you need a new ignition switch.
how can you start a '89 mercury cougar with a broken ignition switch?
