Yes she wanted to see the sun.
:)
It was so tragic because Margot was the only one who had ever seen the sun before. She was desperate to see it again, and it was the only thing she wanted. She had seen it in Ohio, on Earth, when she was four, and she REALLY wanted to see it again. Now she would have to wait 7 more years to see the sun, and she would be all grown up.
Hanneli wanted to gather extra food for Margot because she knew that Margot was sick and weak from malnutrition. She wanted to help Margot by providing her with more food to help her regain strength and recover.
Margot wanted to go into medicine, however she died before she had a change to complete her wish.
The children reject Margot's description of the sun because they have never experienced it themselves. Living on Venus, they have only known a world of constant rain and darkness, making it hard for them to believe Margot's memories of the sun. Their disbelief is fueled by jealousy towards Margot, which leads them to dismiss her truth.
Margot was bullied because she was a little different from the others like she remembered the sun. The children disliked Margot because she was born on earth, she knew and remembered the sun, and she had a chance of going back to Earth.
She wanted to be a nurse in Palestine
In “All Summer in a Day”, I think the message/theme of the story is bullying, which is caused by jealousy and envy. It's not good to be jealous because it is a dangerous thing that can hurt people, such as Margot. Margot was bullied because she was different. She was only viewed as “different” because she came from the earth and unlike everyone else, Margot got to enjoy the sun every day of her life for 5 years, so she knows how the sun's warmth and light feel like. As a result, the children were upset since they had no memory of what the sun was like and Margot did, despite the fact that they last saw it when they were 2 years old. I feel like Margot could have been treated better in a way, meaning that instead of her classmates hating on her, they could have asked curious questions that they had about the sun or maybe made an effort to show some kindness to her. In my opinion, Ray Bradbury wrote this short story to not be jealous of one another, and that being kind goes a long way. If everyone was kind to Margot it would have been a completely different story because maybe Margot wouldn’t have been sad about moving to Venus and dealing with the rain every day.
Margot Fonteyn wanted to be an actress when she was a child and be on broadway her dream came true but in a slightly different way.
Margot is the only child who remembers the sun because she had moved from Earth to Venus when she was very young, and experienced the sun's warmth and brightness before the perpetual rain and fog of Venus. The other children have only lived on Venus and so have never experienced the sun.
The children in "All Summer in a Day" feel guilty and ashamed when they remember to let Margot out of the closet after the sun has gone because they realize they have deprived her of experiencing it. They are also remorseful and regretful for their actions towards Margot.
She has a memory of the sun because she is older and the other kids don't because they have always lived in constant rain. It is what causes all of the conflice in the story. The other children lock Margot in the closet and force her to miss the 1 hour of sun.
Margot is a frail and lonely girl, she stood alone and she felt her classmates go away from her. They kept the jealousy inside of them from Margot's experience from the Sun, so they locked her in the closet.
