he was known as the father of genetics because he is the one to make the theory that when you mix 2 pea plants together one short one tall the tall is always gonna dominate and the new pea plant will always turn out tall.

Who is know as the father of genetics and for his studies on pea plants?

Gregor Mendel, who is known as the "father of modern genetics".He was an Austrian scientist and Augustinian friar who gained posthumous fame as the founder of the new science of genetics. Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traitsin pea plants follows particular patterns, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance. Although the significance of Mendel's work was not recognized until the turn of the 20th century, the independent rediscovery of these laws formed the foundation of the modern science of genetics.

Why is Mendel important to science?

Gregor Mendel is known as the father of genetics. He observed that pea plants had certain characteristics that were dominant. He concluded by observing the traits of cross breeding different types of pea plants that traits such as height, flower color, and seed shape were determined by dominant factors. Since Mendel laid down the principles of inheritance based on his experiments on hybridization in pea plant, a systematic study in genetics started to explain many unanswered questions. Mendel's contribution was recognized and he is rightly been considered as father of genetics. Mendel's approach of mathematics in biological science led him to arrive at such conclusions.

What was Mendels contribution to the study of biology?

He undertook several breeding experiments with peas and thus he deduced the general rules of inheritance. His work was purely phenomenological, as he didn't understand how the characteristics were being passed down from generation to generation, but his works (when rediscovered) were a good start, as he was among the first biologists to use mathematical methods in his experiments.

Who is know as the father of genetics?

Gregor Johann Mendel A monk with a scientific streak, Mendel made botanical discoveries which became the basis of modern genetics. His careful cross-breeding of thousands of pea plants led Mendel to key insights, now called Mendel's Laws of Heredity, about how inherited traits are passed on from generation to generation.

What is gregor Mendels field of study?

== == Gregor Mendel is considered to have been a respected scientist who introduced the science of genetics He was also considered to be a "mathematical" scientist in his creation of the Law of Segregation of Factors.

What is Gregor Mendel known to be the father of?

Gregor Johann Mendel is considered as the father of genetics because of his experiments with pea plants, whereby he discovered recessive and dominant "characteristics". His work was more or less forgotten for decades. The word "genes" was thought up later. Gregor Mendel, who is known as the "father of genetics/father of genetic discovery/father of modern genetics", was inspired by both his professors at university and his colleagues at the monastery to study variation in plants, and he conducted his study in the monastery's garden. Between 1856 and 1863 Mendel cultivated and tested some 29,000 pea plants (i.e. Pisum sativum). This study showed that one in four pea plants had purebred recessive alleles, two out of four were hybrid and one out of four were purebred dominant. His experiments brought forth two generalizations, the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment, which later became known as Mendel's Laws of Inheritance.

Mendel's factors for inheritance are now known to be?

The things Gregor Mendel called factors are now known to be composed of genes and alleles. Gregor Mendel is referred to as the 'father of genetics'. He is famous for formulating his law of inheritance.
