This happened to me. Remove the coverings from the ignition switch. You will see two vacuum tubes connected to the switch housing. One of them is broken, leaking, or clogged. Replace it.
I believe Mercedes run off regular gas, it could possibly be the name of the car but not the type of gas it runs off of. To find out if it does or not visit the nearest car dealership that sells a Mercedes Diesel and ask about it.
I'm asking for the location of the turn signal clicker in the 1982 Mercedes Benz 300 Turbo Diesel
There are two vacuum lines on the ignition switch (where you put the key in). Remove the coverings to expose them. Check to see if the lines are loose, clogged, or disconnected.
If its a Diesel, its probably the Diesel Stop switch. Located on the Diesel Fuel Pump.
The fuel is shut off to shut the engine off.

Be more specific does the light not turn off, did it explode, or did the cover fall off...
If the warning lights will not turn off it could be the on and off switch. It could also be the relay switch.
Usually, for service lights, you have to take it to the dealer, and they can turn it off with their systems
