sorry to interrupt. What make was your magna? I have got 2004 TL. And I got no idea where to find the lighter port..

Check the fuse box. Usually the lighter, dash panel and sunroof are on the same fuse. But they might be on different. Anyway it looks like a typical fuse problem.
