(I hope you accept answers from a Taiwanese and not mainland Chinese person cuz that's who I am) Modern Chinese people don't. Unless we're taking really flashy photos or getting married. But actually, nowadays, lots of Chinese people don't wear traditional clothing when we're getting married, either. If you're taking about the past, then I honestly don't know. I guess it's the same reason why humans started wearing clothes in the first place or why ancient English people wore those uncomfortable dresses?!

It is the same as most modern countries. We wear Jeans and teeshirts, hoodies. Modern Clothing. Maori traditional wear is different.
