About 10 to 12 on plane
width of 12 foot aluminum boat
By itself? No motor, gear, or any other extras? 115 -150lbs.
The answer is relative. I have a 4 1/2 HP motor on my 12 foot aluminum boat. It gets me where I need to go.
It depends a lot on the size of the boat. If it say, a 12 foot boat, probably about 7 or 8 knots (about 10 mph). On a bigger boat slower. As was said these small engines are used mainly for dinghies and for fishing. Answer: I have a 8 foot fiberglass dinghy with a 4 Hp outboard. My GPS says 11km/h under full throttle on a calm lake.

I would say if you know what model or make your Jon boat is you can find it. The motor capacity is determined by multiple factors. Height of sides, the mounting area of where you would put the motor. If it has a plate your already on the internet a lil searching with that model number and should be a non issue.

Any age, as long as you have a license. Once you are 12 you can drive a boat with of any horse power.
all boats except anything without a motor that is under 12 feet in length
If you take your boaters license and your between 12-15 then you can drive a motor under30
It depends on the current rating of the armature winding, which will determine its input power. It's output power then depends on the motor's efficiency.
