There are several ways to move a household.
1. You can use the mobile phone located in your sims inventory, and press move.Then you move all of the sims you want into the right hand side box and the ones you leave nehind will either continue on as any family would do, but without your control, or it will be your playable household( the sims you have decided to move will then have to be found a house to live in by you or you can kick them out, ehich will move them to any random lot in the neighborhood.)
2. You can use the computer which is pretty much the same as the phone but its a computer.
3. Go into Edit Town and evict household. Then move them into your desired lot. You can also split the family up, blah blah blah.
