The fact is that most muscle cars have big V8 engines that are built for raw power but the one problem is that muscle cars are heavy which import cars are not but the V8 can make up for it with most going over 400+ HP and there are not that many import cars that can match that, in the end pure power wins the race.

Muscle cars, usually refers to Factory built performance cars, while Tuner means aftermarket mods. It's usually depends on what you want. A Factory original Muscle car will Always be worth more than a tuner car (Original price vs. sell price). Often it is cheaper to buy a high performance car than "Mod" a lower model but that mainly depends on if you do the work yourself or have someone else do it. You could mod a mustang for $5,000 yourself or pay $10k to have some one else mod it to make the same power. Tuner cars are definitely more specific than a factory muscle car.. be it more drag racing focused or track oriented.
less power vs more power all else being equal.
The super car has the muscle car by a long shot. It is basically old technology Vs. New technology. The muscle car weighs about a ton while a super car is lite and essentially more efficient. Most super cars are Japanese or European and they have more technology than us so they can make cars more efficient. The only muscle cars that can compete with European/Japanese super cars are the Dodge Viper, Chevy corvette zr1 and some mustangs and camaros. But the only reason these can compete is because they have huge engines. You look at the Nissan Gtr with a v-6 who can blow the doors of the v-8 camaro ss and mustang.
