Yes, she was, but not quite in the way you are thinking. Clara Petacci was with Mussolini in a country hotel in northern Italy. They were caught by a group of partisans, who shot them both dead. They were then taken to Milan, the second city of Italy. After their heels had been tied together, they were strung up from a lamp-post, side by side and upside down. Mussolini did not have plans to leave Italy but instead he retreated to northern Italy. However as the partisans became more threatening, he began to flee. His mistress wanted to join him so she and her brother, Marcello, following after him. When the German convoy was stopped by the Partisans, the German leader told Mussolini to disguise himself in a German overcoat and helmet. The other Italians were not allowed to go. That was when Mussolini was captured. Later Marcello and Clara were captured but no one recognized Clara. Finally she asked to be re-united with Mussolini, which sealed her fate. At first, the partisans mistakenly thought her brother, Marcello, was Vittorio Mussolini, the son of Il Duce. The Communist Partisans gathered 15 prisoners for execution at Dongo. Marcello Petacci was shot while trying to escape this execution by jumping into Lake Como.
Mussolini's body was hung upside down in the Piazzale Loreto in Milan, Italy.
He was captured by the partisans. The Communist partisans took him out the next morning and shot him. Then he and his mistress were taken to Milan and hung up for public display. But he was already dead when they hung him upside down.

No, but Mussolini did blow up other people in WWII
On April 28, 1945, Mussolini and his mistress Clara Petacci, were arrested again by Italian partisans by Lake Como. Walter Audisio (1909-1973), who was once pardoned by Mussolini for a jail term in 1934, took custody of Mussolini and Petacci. Mussolini, realizing he was going to killed, opened up his shirt and asked to be shot in the chest. Audisio complied and attempted to shoot the pair with an Italian submachine gun, but it would not fire. He then pulled out an Italian pistol and again it would not fire. In desperation he grabbed a French weapon, a MAS 7.65, from a fellow partisan and killed them both. Their bodies were strung upside down the next day for all to see.
Hitler had been shown photographs of what the Italians had done to their own dictator, Mussolini. When caught Mussolini was killed and strung up, upside down, in a gas station in Milan, alongside his mistress, before cheering crowds. Hitler did not want his body to become a similar trophy.

Hitler killed himself because he didn't want to face the shame that Mussolini had faced (strung up by his feet and spat on by a crowd), and the Russian Army had completely surrounded the Reichstag, and if he had been captured he would've had to face questioning at the Nuremburg trials.
Hung Strung-up :)
Besides shooting himself, Hitler also took a cyanide capsule, to ensure he would die should the gunshot to the temple fail. Hitler feared the fate of his ally, Benito Mussolini, who was strung up by his heels and spat upon by his former followers.
Benito Mussolini, former Duce, arose to become a fascist dictator of Italy. He took Italy into World War II on the side of Nazis Germany. He eventually paid for defeat by being shot and his corpse strung up by his feet to face the ridicule of the population.
