My AVG has detected a Trojan horse exploit and says that the result is infected. i have scanned numerous times but it hasn't detected it again is my laptop infected?

It's probably still infected, unless your AVG Antivirus thought it found a virus.
To be safe, install Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and run a scan. This program has never failed to remove a virus for me.
