- It sounds like he is giving you an excuse, but, in some cases if the couple is not getting along or perhaps if your parents didn't approve of him he didn't want to deal with it and moved on giving you a limp excuse. There is also the possibility he may have met someone else and his excuse was an easy way out because it was up to you to decide if he was not good enough for you and he never gave you the respect of communicating what he felt so you could assure him that you loved him.
