Rabbits typically scratch and bite because they are scared. Rabbits are afraid of heights and if you ever drop one it will never forget. That is why you should always carry rabbits tucked under your arm with their eyes covered. Rabbits will sometimes lick your hands because you have salt on your hands. Rabbits who bite (nibble) are not doing it to be playful they are doing it so you will put them down and not pick them up anymore. I have never been able to break one of biting. By carrying them properly you can cut down on or eliminate the scratching.
