== == I have been on Effexor XR for about 5 months. I have read all of the bad press and side effects also but after I started taking it. Honestly I have had no side effects and the meds work great for me. The only negative thing I can say is if you miss a dose, like I did, You may get very dizzy and feel very sick. I just took my med the next day and felt fine. The one real draw back is that you need to wean yourself off these meds very slowly and carefully or else you will get very bad side effects. That is also true for a lot of other antidepressants also. Everyone is different so some meds work for some and not for others. Its a hit or miss with antidepressants. Effexor XR has it positives and negatives. The main thing is you cannot quit them cold turkey. You have to slowly reduce the dosage. That is a very important bit of info that some doctors don't inform their patients of. It has worked wonderfully for me, so good luck! Also Effexor XR is Effexor XL.
