Ok, Yes I have the chromatic also. Im thinking that the battery died fast because, just look how slim it is! Things to prevent this is when you listening to a track put it to hold and try not to play the games on it, that makes the battery drain faster. Good Luck!

24 hours and 5 days
Ipod nanos last about a good 12 hours on a fully charged battery. The time varies depending on how often you stop it from going on continuously.
Battery life for 16gb video play back is around 4 hours
Depends on what kind of iPODA video lasts about 15-20 hours while listening to music and nano's last a little longerApple says that the itouch last about 20 hours listening to music but that is not true my new one I bought last only about five
If the battery is fully charged it will give you roughly 24 hours music playback or 5 hours video playback Hope this helps :)
CAPACITOR'S REACTANCE CHANGES WITH FREQUENCY WHEREAS A BATTERY'S RESISTANCE IS FIXED. ALSO BATTERY STORES ENERGY AND IS EXPRESSED IN UNITS AS AMPERE-HOURS, WHERE AS CAPACITOR STORES CHARGE AND AND IS EXPRESSED IN UNITS AS MICRO / NANO FARADS
you cant
For an iPod Nano-video 3rd generation, it should take twenty-four hours to drain with playing only music, and five hours to drain with playing video.
When new and fully charged, the battery provides up to 8 or 12 hours of battery life
