My son closed his new hamsters leg in the cage the hampser is dragging that leg but still running in wheel and eating How can you tell if it is broken or should go to the vet?

Just wait it out for a few weeks. It should heal on its own, even if it's broken. There isn't much else you can do other than put it to sleep.

I believe that this leg lifting activity is just a common issue with Roboviski hamsters because my hamster was presenting the same symptoms. upon a visit to the doctor the leg is not broken. possibly sore feet or legs from much running also it could possibly just be stretching its leg or it could be a genetically inherited trait of the type of hamster.
