My son is a new recrute with the army national guard basic training.How long will it be before he can give his family his address so he can get mail from home.He will be stationecd at Fort Knox Can we send care packages to them at basic training ?

My son's basic training was at Ft. Knox. They usually request that the recruit have no contact for around a month once they arrive there. Hope this helps and it's not too late. My son has been enlisted now for 4 years and recently reenlisted for 6 more years. God bless our troops!
You will need to wait up to two weeks in order for him to receive a address so you can send a care package.

I used to be in the army. I know for a fact that basic training last around 2-3 months. Once your son is settled into the routine of things they should allow them to contact you back home during this time. If you cannot get a hold of your son then you should either wait until he is settled into his training station for his MOS. If you really have to contact him then you can go through the proper channels of the military and they can get a message to him.
